Best Monster Games: Catch Them, Train Them, Fear Them

Monster is the most two-faced category on Lootara, and we love it for that. Half of these games want you to collect creatures, name them and raise them into champions. The other half want the creatures to collect you. This collection honours both impulses: the raising and the running away.

The shelf is small — 17 titles — so we could afford to be picky. What survived has character: monsters with designs you'll remember, and games that give them something interesting to do besides stand in tall grass waiting for you. Start at the top and work toward the teeth.
